Mizuno
Mizuno: Mizuno is a Japanese sports brand known for running shoes with the Wave Plate, a wavy plate in the midsole for cushioning and stability. With us you'll find Mizuno Sportstyle: sneakers for everyday wear that trace back to the brand's running shoes.
What defines the brand
The RunBird has sat on Mizuno's shoes since 1983, and today it's the logo of the entire company. In 1997 Mizuno introduced the Wave Plate, right in the very first Wave Rider. In 2007 the Infinity Wave followed, a double Wave Plate. The brand keeps refining this idea to this day.
Mizuno Sportstyle
Sportstyle is the name of the line with which Mizuno reissues or reinterprets running shoes from its own archive as sneakers. The Mizuno Wave Rider 10 is the reissue of a running shoe from the noughties. The Mizuno Wave Prophecy LS shows the Infinity Wave openly on the side. The MXR is the entry-level model of the line.
The models at a glance
- Wave Rider 10: the tenth generation of the Wave Rider, reissued in the look of the noughties
- Wave Prophecy LS: the everyday version of the Wave Prophecy running shoe, with a bold, futuristic sole
- MXR: named after Maximizer, a running shoe series that Mizuno has offered in Japan for years
- Unisex: Mizuno carries all three models for women and men
Where does Mizuno come from?
Mizuno comes from Japan: Rihachi Mizuno founded the company in 1906 with his brother Rizo in Osaka, where it still has its headquarters today. It all began with a store for Western goods, among them baseballs.
