Founded in 2015 by Alejandro Porras, the idea for the brand began in Hawaii, when the Spanish entrepreneur observed how enthusiastically people reacted to his Avarcas, the traditional sandals from Menorca.

Alohas operates on an on-demand system: new designs are first offered as pre-orders before actual production begins.
This way, the brand only produces what is actually demanded, avoiding overproduction, which is one of the biggest ecological problems in the fashion industry.

All Alohas shoes are designed in Barcelona and crafted by local artisans in Spain and Portugal.
The decision for European production is deliberate: short distances allow for regular visits to the workshops, direct quality control, and the assurance of fair working conditions.

In addition to leather from Leather Working Group certified tanneries, Alohas is increasingly using plant-based alternatives made from cactus, corn, and apple.
