The Story of Alohas: Spanish Craftsmanship Meets Conscious Consumption

Alohas is a Spanish shoe brand that proves contemporary design, artisanal quality, and responsible consumption are not mutually exclusive.
Founded in 2015 by Alejandro Porras, the idea for the brand began in Hawaii, when the Spanish entrepreneur observed how enthusiastically people reacted to his Avarcas, the traditional sandals from Menorca.

Back in Spain, Porras built a brand that combines Mediterranean lightness with a radically different business model.
Alohas operates on an on-demand system: new designs are first offered as pre-orders before actual production begins.
This way, the brand only produces what is actually demanded, avoiding overproduction, which is one of the biggest ecological problems in the fashion industry.

Design from Barcelona, Craftsmanship from Spain and Portugal

All Alohas shoes are designed in Barcelona and crafted by local artisans in Spain and Portugal.
The decision for European production is deliberate: short distances allow for regular visits to the workshops, direct quality control, and the assurance of fair working conditions.
The range now includes sandals, boots, sneakers, pumps, and a growing ready-to-wear collection.

Materials play a central role.
In addition to leather from Leather Working Group certified tanneries, Alohas is increasingly using plant-based alternatives made from cactus, corn, and apple.
The combination of classic craftsmanship and sustainable materials gives each shoe a quality that you immediately feel when you hold it.
