The Story of Pierre Bassene: Streetwear as a Personal Fingerprint

Pierre Bassene World, or PBW for short, is the label of the self-taught designer Pierre Bassene.
Growing up in a small town in Eastern France, not far from the German border, Bassene was shaped by the Parisian skateboarding and hip-hop culture.
Every building, every graffiti-sprayed alley became a place for self-expression for him.

The Fingerprint: Uniqueness as a Trademark

The most striking element of PBW is the fingerprint logo.
The idea behind it is as simple as it is powerful: every person's fingerprint is unique and at the same time symbolizes connection.
Bassene began by pressing a hand-cut stamp of his own fingerprint onto thrift store jeans he bought for 10 euros.
What started as an act of individuality became the visual identity of an entire brand.

Without formal fashion training, Bassene taught himself everything: sewing, textile technology, color theory, design software, production logistics.
In 2018, he officially founded PBW and quickly gained a loyal fan base, from the French rap scene to international streetwear platforms.
The collections are characterized by simple color palettes—black, cream, sand—and powerful cuts, often complemented by symbolic details.
